Fantastic quality, actually better quality than one I brought from a department store last year, can't remember how much that was but pretty sure it was around £200. I have such a better night sleep with these duvets, the 100% cotton helps a lot too as it keeps you warm in the winter and cool in the summer

No, it doesn't smell.
No, it's not too thin, it just needs a good shake.
100% cotton does have a faint 'crispy' (its hard to describe) sound to it, it's not loud and it certainly won't wake you up, this is true of all 100% cotton. I personally like it, to me it's sign of quality, not like the horrible man-made material you get on cheap duvets today.
