Zassenhaus Santiago Black Espresso Mill/ Discount !!
Zassenhaus Santiago Black Espresso Mill/ Grinder, Black Beech
Looks good, feels good, grinds rubbish
I bought a Zassenhaus Santiago grinder from a local shop (NOT from Amazon). As far as I can see the only difference between the Black Espresso model and the other models is colour and the words Espresso on the front. Burrs and mechanism is the same.
Anyway, my review
1) wood construction nice to look at and nice to hold
2) grinding mechanism is rubbish -- the screw that sets grind size moves with use, so grinds are inconsistent.
3) the grinder does not grind fine enough for espresso, not even fine enough for moka pot.
Therefore it is an attractive piece of kit that hides a poorly designed mechanism. Way overpriced.
I used mine for a week and then bought a Feldgrind which I have been very happy with.
