I tried this out with my new Vax carpet shampoo machine and it did the job well. Previously I had used the Bissell shampoo which is just as good and smells fresher, in my opinion. But this is a good bulk-but offer that will keep me going for the foreseeable future.
(Edit, three months later.) I have just finished an end of tenancy clean for an old couple who had lived in a flat for many years. The carpet in their living room was truly filthy, with many greasy food stains and the tracks of wear where people had moved around. I really just hoped to freshen it up a bit, but was amazed at how clean the carpet came up, bright pink again and all the longstanding stains gone. The bathroom was very smelly as both of them were incontinent, but again the solution freshened and deep cleaned the carpet, removing the odour and also years of ground-in talcum powder etc. The landlady is a friend of mine so I was glad to be able to return the flat to her in a clean and fresh state...
