This is a nice looking item that is clearly of excellent quality, although not cheap. You get what you pay for, I guess. It was exactly what I was looking for to go on the wall over a bed and can easily be switched on and off and dimmed via the one round button, situated on the chrome base at the bottom of the base unit. It is not a lamp that can be dimmed by touching anywhere on the lamp. It is perfect for a bedroom light as long as you have a nearby electric socket. Not particularly bright but bright enough. Very easily installed with 2 screws into the wall through a back plate. Screws and plastic rawlplugs supplied. The back plate is then hidden between wall and unity and is secured to the lamp with 2 further screws at the sides of the base unit. I find the look of those screws (on the sides of the base unit) to be neat and perfectly acceptable. Strangely, instructions did not come in English, although there was a straightforward diagram.
